CT Real Estate Broker License Requirements
Requirements for obtaining a real estate broker license in Connecticut include:
- Completion of the mandatory 60-hour Real Estate Principles and Practices course.
Note: As of January 1, 2014, real estate salespersons licensees who had completed a mandatory 30-hour version of this course in the past will need to retake the full 60-hour mandatory course. - Completion of the mandatory 15-hour Real Estate Brokerage Principles and Practices course.
- Completion of the mandatory 15-hour Legal Compliance course.
- Successful completion of at least 20 real estate transactions in the previous five years or two 15 hour elective course or a 30 hour elective prescribed by the commission. Note: As of January 1, 2022:
- In the three years prior to applying, an applicant must have:
- a. been actively engaged as a licensed real estate salesperson under the supervision of a Connecticut licensed real estate broker for at least 1,500 hours
- b. represented a seller, buyer, lessor or lessee in at least four closed real estate transactions.
- The supervising broker or his/her authorized representative to certify whether an applicant's active engagement meets the hourly experience requirement within 90 days after the applicant provides it to him or her.
- Applying for and passing the state exam.
